WelcomeGreetings to you and thank you for taking the time to look us up on the web! I hope you will find helpful information about Mount Olivet United Methodist Church. In addition, I hope that you will come in person and become part of a very special community of faith. ![]() For over 150 years on a very busy street corner in Arlington County, Mount Olivet has served God's people and answered the call to be and to make disciples for Jesus Christ. While I could go on and on about all the meaningful activities, the heartfelt worship services, the truly outstanding Christian education programs and so much more, I really want you to know that Mount Olivet is about people who are seeking to grow in faith and are looking for ways in which the real message of Jesus Christ is communicated to others. We believe in movement here. We believe in the movement of the Holy Spirit and rely on the Holy Spirit to be an inclusive, life changing community that offers Christ’s love to the busy street corners as well as the abandoned alleys of the world. And so, we see our next 150 years as something truly global. You will hear a lot about mission here at Mount Olivet and will feel moved to help others. We are excited to be part of The United Methodist Church and with this excitement we embrace a vision to be of open minds, open hearts and open doors to all. We proclaim a message of grace and seek to live our lives transformed by worship. We believe that God wants us to learn and embrace the challenges of the day. We seek to draw from the Wesleyan approach to examine the Scriptures and Traditions of the Church. In addition, we believe that God has given to us the gifts of experience and reason. And with all four of these at work and in tension, we become better “students” or “disciples” of our faith. Finally, we know that relationship is key. Just as God is known in the Trinity, we seek to be known by our relationships with one another. You will find many faith groups at Mount Olivet. And like many here, you may even find yourself involved in more than one! There is an abundance of friendship here. I do hope that we will see you in person! If you have any questions, please give me a call at 703.527.3934 or email me directly, or send a message to our general box.
