EARTHQUAKE IN HAITI RELIEF EFFORTS

UMCOR (the United Methodist Committee on Relief) is on the ground in Haiti coordinating relief efforts.  Click here for information on how you can help.  Mount Olivet is forwarding the contributions we receive to UMCOR.  Make your check to Mount Olivet UMC and write "Haiti" in the memo line.

Our first shipment of health kits for Haiti has gone out.  If you missed making one and would like to help, you can bring them in for our June collection that goes to Annual Conference.  UMCOR estimates that hundreds of thousands of kits will be needed in the months and years to come. For a list of items for health kits, click here.

YOUTH MISSIONS FUND
Our praise band, JC Reigns, has released a new CD entitled "What If?"  Use the media player below to listen to a track.  Like what you hear?  CDs are $10, and all proceeds go to our Youth Missions Fund that supports our summer mission trips with middle school and high school youth.  We have four trips planned in 2010: Habitat for Humanity International in El Salvador, Project SPY in Christiansburg, VA, English Camp in the Czech Republic, and the Jeremiah Project in Winchester, VA.  To order a CD, call our church office at 703.527.3934 or email Kevin.

HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF

It has been years since Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast.  Across Mississippi, families still live in FEMA trailers. In New Orleans, much of the population still has not returned, causing a labor shortage that is depressing efforts to rebuild.

We are committed to continue to serve our neighbors in need. Interested in being a part of a future team?  Contact Cindy Huber.
