Stephen Ministry
What is Stephen Ministry? Stephen Ministry is our congregation’s one-on-one, Christ-centered, care giving ministry. Stephen Ministers are caring Christian friends who walk with a person (a care receiver) during times when life is out of balance. Stephen ministers actively listen, are non-judgmental, pray, explore feelings, let God provide the healing, and above all - always maintain confidentiality. Watch a video about the Stephen Ministry.
Stephen Minsters care for people who are grieving, in crisis, in transition, dying, giving birth, hospitalized, experiencing all types of loss, and those who are supporting persons who are in any of these situations.
Stephen Minister training is 50 hours over about 4 months, culminating in a formal commissioning ceremony. Once commissioned, the Stephen Minister serves for a period of at least two years. The joy and fulfillment of being a Stephen Minister, and the opportunity to grow in faith and in interpersonal communication skills, make this a truly unique ministry.
Come hang out with Christian youth like you. Currently, we have a girls' small group meeting. This groups give us the chance to hang out and talk about our lives while we try to figure out what it means to be a Christian in the 21st century.
Contact Alexis Joyce for more information about our girls' small groups and Todd Baldwin about our boys' small groups.

United Methodist Women is a community of women who know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; develop creative, supportive fellowship; and expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the United Methodist Church.
You can be part of the UMW by:
participating in the general meetings (four per year) for study, fellowship and service
joining one of seven Fellowships, each consisting of 15-20 women who hold monthly meetings from September through May
taking part in UMW outreach ministries, such as preparing Church World Service kits (Health Kits, Clean-Up Kits, School Kits, and Sewing Kits)

Mount Olivet Men
The Mount Olivet Men's Fellowship provides a haven for men to experience God's love through acts of service, study, fellowship and worship.
We meet for breakfast on the second Saturday of the month at 7:30 am in Fellowship Hall.
Each monthly program includes breakfast with a fellowship time, followed by a brief devotional, items of business, and a program of interest to Christian men.
Spirited Parents serves Mount Olivet parents with children of all ages. We seek to foster opportunities in which God's love and inspiration will touch the lives of parents and their children.
Spirited Parents supports the parents of Mount Olivet's nearly 600 children and youth though special activities and mission opportunities for families as well as through small group opportunities for those parents looking to experience a deeper level of spiritual growth.
Each of these groups is on-going and welcomes new members.

Weekday Preschool
Mount Olivet Weekday Preschool provides children an opportunity to participate in early learning experiences within a safe and nurturing Christian environment. Through a developmental philosophy with an emergent curriculum, children are exposed to a variety of social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skill-building activities. While playing, experimenting, and exploring with others, children gain cooperative, conflict-resolution, communication, and self-help skills that promote self-confidence. The highly qualified teachers and staff are committed to supporting each child's sense of self and to enhancing children's social skills to live happily and cooperatively in the larger world outside the home.
Here's your chance to come into a community where you can relax,
be renewed, and get rooted in the word of God.
Sunday School
Mount Olivet hosts vibrant adult Sunday morning classes, each with its own style and character. Visit each class and select one that will nurture you on your faith journey. Morning Sunday School classes meet from 9:30-10:30 am.
Messages surround us: Eat this! Wear this! Do this!
Mount Olivet offers middle school and high school teens a chance to place those messages alongside the message we find in the Bible, that God has loved us and wanted relationship with us throughout history, and never gives up. Youth in 6th through 12th grades learn about what the Bible says, and how it continues to matter even now. Sunday school for youth splits into Middle School and High School classes that meet in the Youth Area from 9:30am - 10:30am.
Youth Bible Study
The Acts of the Apostles was written nearly
2,000 years ago. It is as compelling as any novel, as fascinating as any
fan site, and as sweeping as any epic. And you just might be amazed to
learn how much this book has to say to us today.
Every Thursday during the school year, we
meet at 8:00 pm at the Craig's house. The snacks are scrumptious, the
conversation flows, the questions and insights are plentiful. We are a
covenant group, offering support to each other as well.
Please join us! If you have any
questions, call Heather Feaster at 703-527-3934 or Mac McKenney at 703
237-6232. And check out our blog!
Our last meeting for the 2009-2010 school year is Thursday, June 10. We'll see you again in September.
