![]() Mount Olivet Weekday Preschool provides children an opportunity to participate in early learning experiences within a safe and nurturing Christian environment. Through a developmental philosophy with an emergent curriculum, children are exposed to a variety of social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skill-building activities. While playing, experimenting, and exploring with others, children gain cooperative, conflict-resolution, communication, and self-help skills that promote self-confidence. The highly qualified teachers and staff are committed to supporting each child's sense of self and to enhancing children's social skills to live happily and cooperatively in the larger world outside the home. ![]() Some of our caring teaching staff
Classes
Classes for the children aged three months through four years meet from
9:15 a.m. until
1:15 p.m.,
mid September through the first week of June. Infant/Toddler classes, those children
under the age of two, attend one day a week; Twos attend one or two days a
week; Threes attend either two or three days a week; and Fours attend either
three or five days a week. Children are placed as of their age on September 30th.
Children pack a lunch and the preschool provides a mid-morning snack.
Mount Olivet Preschool offers children a progression of knowledge and
skills, in an affectionate and loving environment, at an age-appropriate level
in the following areas: fine and gross
motor development, social and emotional development, daily art activities,
language development through daily reading and story telling, and
age-appropriate exposure to letter recognition, pre-reading, number sequencing
and problem solving techniques all in a developmentally appropriate
environment. Mount
Olivet Preschool offers a
variety of Specials classes on a monthly basis during the preschool day. They
are: Science Wonders, Music and
Movement, Spanish, Food Fun and Chapel time lead by one
of the church pastors. All classes spend from 40 to 60 minutes daily either
playing on the recently renovated playground or, in cases of inclement weather,
play time is held indoors in the Fellowship Hall. The Threes and Fours classes
have approximately two off-site field trips a year and parents are encouraged
to join their children.
Mount Olivet Preschool has a very active Parents’ Group
Board comprised of preschool parents. The Parents’ Group works closely with the
Preschool Director and all parents are encouraged to join. This is a great way
to support the Preschool through an extensive list of activities such as
fundraising and outreach opportunities, parent education seminars, social
activities, room parenting, and offering administrative support to the
preschool. Registration Information
2010-2011
Registration for the 2010 – 2011 school year has now closed. As you may know, both Priority and Open Registration deadlines were extended one week, so we are still in the process of filling all available class spaces. We will be posting waiting list numbers for unplaced children as soon as possible here on this website. (Waiting list numbers will be keyed to the family identification number you received at registration.) Thank you for your patience. For additional questions about the preschool or the registration
process, please call the Preschool office at 703-527-5508. |
