Children in Worship

We encourage all children to attend and participate in services of worship.
The following are some helpful hints for everyone to make the worship experience more meaningful for the whole family.
◊ Try to sit where your child can see what is happening.◊ Help locate hymns and responses in the bulletin.
◊ Assist your child in singing hymns.
◊ Encourage your child to stand when the congregation stands.
Bringing children to worship may not always be easy, but it is an essential part of their faith journey.
Let your child get a children’s bulletin from the usher. These have pictures and games that relate to the lesson of the day.
Pew Bags are also available for use during the service. Even the most creative and interesting worship experience can be a long time for children to sit. Children do hear what is going on in the worship service, but sometimes it is easier for them to listen if they have busy hands. Special bags have been made for our children, which are available as you enter the sanctuary. These bags are to be returned so they will be available for the next Sunday.
Wee Believers is for children ages 3-kindergartenand is offered during the 11 a.m. service. The children learn about God’s love through storytelling, puppet shows, songs, and games. The children are dismissed following children’s time and may be picked up in room S-11 (through the doors on the left side of the sanctuary) after the service.
Belief Builders is for children in grades 1-5 during the 11 a.m. service. This this interactive program focuses on one story or theme from the Bible each month, and the children experience that lesson through different learning mediums, such as storytelling/drama, music, games, and crafts. The children are dismissed at the conclusion of children’s time and may be picked up upstairs in the Sunday School Elementary rooms.
At the 5 p.m. service, Hallelujah Kids is a multi-age worship experience for children age 3 through 5th grade. Following children’s sharing the kids are dismissed. The kids are returned to the sanctuary for communion with their families.
A nursery is available for children ages 2 and younger in room S14. Go through the doors on the left side of the sanctuary and follow the signs. Parents receive pagers to let them know if they are needed.
