Stephen Ministry
What is Stephen Ministry? Stephen Ministry is our congregation’s one-on-one, Christ-centered, care giving ministry. Stephen Ministers are caring Christian friends who walk with a person (a care receiver) during times when life is out of balance. Stephen ministers actively listen, are non-judgmental, pray, explore feelings, let God provide the healing, and above all - always maintain confidentiality. Watch a video about the Stephen Ministry.Stephen Ministers care for people who are grieving, in crisis, in transition, dying, giving birth, hospitalized, experiencing all types of loss, and those who are supporting persons who are in any of these situations.
Stephen Minister training is 50 hours over about 4 months, culminating in a formal commissioning ceremony. Once commissioned, the Stephen Minister serves for a period of at least two years. The joy and fulfillment of being a Stephen Minister, and the opportunity to grow in faith and in interpersonal communication skills, make this a truly unique ministry.
