Families
Spirited Parents serves Mount Olivet parents with children of all ages. We seek to foster opportunities in which God's love and inspiration will touch the lives of parents and their children.Spirited Parents supports the parents of Mount Olivet's nearly 600 children and youth though special activities and mission opportunities for families as well as through small group opportunities for those parents looking to experience a deeper level of spiritual growth.
Some of our activities include:
A-SPAN Bagged Meals
This periodic activity is a great community service opportunity for you and your child. It takes about an hour to make 140 sandwiches and pack 70 bagged meals. Ages 5 and up are generally better suited for this job.
GRACE Ministries Easter Party
We host an Easter party a few weeks before Easter for children from GRACE Ministries at Arlington United Methodist Church. All ages are welcome. We always need help with crafts and games. If you'd like to help, contact Sarah Azelton.
Bagging food for Community Assistance
This is a great opportunity to get your family involved in mission! On the Thursday before the third Saturday of the month, we gather at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall to bag canned goods for our monthly Community Assistance ministry.
Gingerbread House Decorating Party
Each December we decorate gingerbread (well, actually graham cracker) houses. Extra houses are decorated and delivered to our homebound members. This is one of our most popular events!
New Baby Meals
We provide two to four meals for families with new babies. We can always use additional cooks or people who are willing to make deliveries! If you'd like to help make meals, contact Kristen Fowler.
Parenting Classes and Seminars
Education events for parents - we collaborate with the Mount Olivet Weekday Preschool to provide classes and seminars.
Spirited Parents Sunday School Class
An enthusiastic group that wants to make parenting fun and rewarding for themselves and their children. Recent parenting ministry books have included The Happiness Project; the 5 Love Languages; 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families; and Unplug the Christmas Machine. We meet every Sunday from 9:45 - 10:30 am in the Fellowship Hall. Parents of all ages are welcome, not just those with young children!
